Just a little quick note, I’ve passed 25,000 hits on my blog. I’ve been blogging for one year, 10 months and 5 days. It’s been an interesting experience, I’ve made some friends from around the world, and had some really cool experiences (having conversations with the grandchildren/great-grandchildren of folks whose photos I posted from my collection).
Congratulations from a fellow DC area resident (Alexandria, VA). That’s a pretty significant milestone. I love visiting your blog–there is always something new and different and interesting.
I’m glad you like it. It’s always nice to know there are real people out there reading it and paying attention to it. While it would certainly be cool to have thousands of folks reading my blog every day, I’m pretty happy knowing that I have regular readers and I’m not just the flavor of the day for those who follow me.
Congrats to you and thrilled that you have had contact from relatives of people in postings. I am still hoping for the same one day.
I actually got the reply from the great grandson of Tony Lowande, who was mis-labeled on the back of my photo as part of Siegirst’s Midgets. Tony was NOT in fact a midget or ever part of the midget performing group, although the Lowande family may have toured alongside Siegirst’s Midgets for a season. It’s amazing to me that people will go out and do searches on their family name to see what’s being written about them – I guess it never really dawns on me to do it because my name is so common, I’ll be flooded with irrelevant information. And I also don’t have any famous (that I’m aware of) relatives.
Photographer and filmmaker Dick Jewell ( UK) did a google search for his family name and made a great film out of what he found. It grew out of another project he had done before the internet. You may find it interesting. Here is the link

Thanks for the link. I’ll definitely take a look at it!
